PhD & DSc at TSUE
Tashkent State University of Economics (TSUE) offers doctoral education at two levels: Basic Doctorate (PhD) and Doctorate (DSc).
Doctoral education at TSUE is designed to develop independent researchers capable of conducting high-quality scientific research, contributing new knowledge to their fields, and producing original dissertations.
All doctoral education and degree-awarding procedures are conducted in accordance with the national regulations of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the requirements of the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC).
PhD — Basic Doctorate
The Basic Doctorate (PhD) is designed to prepare independent researchers capable of conducting original scientific research and developing a PhD dissertation.
The program includes:
- Individual research and study plans
- Research methodology and specialized academic preparation
- Field examinations
- Research seminars
- Scientific publications
- Conference participation
- Dissertation preparation and defense
Typical duration: 3–4 years for full-time study, subject to applicable national regulations.
DSc — Doctorate
The Doctorate (DSc) is an advanced doctoral level for researchers who already hold a PhD or equivalent scientific degree.
The DSc track focuses on producing a substantial and original contribution to the chosen field through advanced research and a DSc dissertation.
Key components include:
- Approved individual research plan
- Advanced research and academic seminars
- Scientific publications
- Pre-defense procedures
- Dissertation preparation
- Defense before an HAC-accredited Scientific Council
The duration is determined in accordance with the candidate's research progress and applicable national requirements.
Admission Requirements
PhD Applicants
Applicants to the Basic Doctorate (PhD) are required to provide:
- Application
- CV / biographical statement
- Certified employment record, where applicable
- Master's or equivalent higher education diploma
- List and copies of published scientific works
- Required foreign-language proficiency certificate
- Presidential Scholarship certificate, if applicable
The submitted scientific publications must meet the requirements established for the relevant doctoral field and dissertation research.
DSc Applicants
Applicants to the Doctorate (DSc) are required to provide:
- Application
- CV / biographical statement
- Certified employment record, where applicable
- PhD, Candidate of Science, or equivalent scientific degree diploma
- Research plan for the proposed DSc dissertation
- List and copies of published scientific works
- Required foreign-language proficiency certificate
Applicants should ensure that their publications and research materials meet the current national requirements for doctoral admission.
Entrance Assessment
PhD
Applicants to the PhD program take an entrance examination in their selected field of study.
DSc
Applicants to the DSc program undergo a professional interview in their area of specialization.
The assessment process is conducted in accordance with the applicable national regulations.
